Hunger Games...

It's been a few weeks since I posted...and I'm trying to think about what has happened. I can't recall very much happening, although the weeks have been good!

On January 9th I went to the lovely Birmingham, Alabama for work. This year at good ole' Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. I am switching from the Safety Engineer to the Safety, Health & Training Coordinator. Yes, that is a mouthful. But the new job is a very daunting task, although I think I will enjoy it more. I'll be doing all the safety training for the plant. And there's a lot of organizing involved - my greatest talent. So anyways, I had to go to Alabama for some training on a new training software. This was my 2nd business trip, and I would say it was a little more interesting than the last one. I rented a car for the first time, went out to dinner by myself for the first time...and wasn't all it's cracked up to be. Haha since I'm pretty young to be going on business trips, everyone I knew thought it was pretty cool that I got to go all on my own. And it was a good experience for me, business wise, but other than that it was pretty lonely. I'm not one of those people who do well with a lot of alone time. The only thing that kept me going was The Hunger Games. I started reading the series on my flight to Birmingham and finished the third book on my flight back to Salt Lake. I was pretty obsessed. And I still am. It's bad that I'm actually admitting this, but I've actually had multiple dreams where I've been thrown into a Hunger Game...and they're stressful to say the least. Cam hasn't read them yet but I'm trying to get him to read the first one so we can go see the movie together when it comes out in March! You'd think this would be an easy task, however, Cam is too organized for that. He has every hour of every day, of every week planned out until the semester ends. I guess that's a bit exaggerated, but he is so good at organizing his time to get everything done! His semesters have been so busy lately that he has to be extremely organized to get everything done. He is amazing.

So moving on - I have been crafting lately. And I wish I could make a full-time career out of it. I love it. Although I don't have quite enough stamina for it. I made a Valentine's Day wreath with my mom and some of her cousins (that are more like sisters) on Friday. They are all amazingly domestic - cook delicious food, have perfectly decorated homes, have beautiful and well-behaved children, and do crafty things all the time. I want to be like them. Haha but anyways, this wreath took like 5 hours to make...and I got ADD after about an hour. Typical :)
Luckily, I endured the crafting. Because I love the way it turned out!
Another project in the Chubbuck household was to fill this frame. It has been sitting empty on our wall since we moved in...and we finally did something with it! Cam and I picked out the flowers at Hobby Lobby together, and I think Cam enjoys that store even more than I do. He kept wanting to buy everything! Haha I love that I married a man who appreciates decorations. It's so great!

Another recent project we worked on was this desk...or it used to be a desk. A while back Cam and I transformed this ugly wooden desk into a cuter version. We painted it black and added some different knobs. Then, after New Years, my dad and I made shelves to fit in where a hole for the chair used to be. And although they look really simple, it took us almost an entire day to make them! We are both perfectionists so we had to make sure everything was perfectly placed and leveled. Cam was at work the entire time we worked on it, so he wasn't able to help :( But it was a really fun time, I loved spending the quality time with my dad.
Sorry - there are too many words and not enough pictures on this blog, but we don't have any other pictures to show!

  1. I am still trying to finish the Hunger Games! I was the same way! I plowed through the first two and a half, but then my nightmares started getting too scary, so I had to stop! I brought the book home with me from Utah and am determined to finish it. Let the nightmares begin...AGAIN!
