Thanksgiving
This years Thanksgiving was probably one of my favorites yet. Maybe it's because it was my first Thanksgiving being married. Being married to Cam makes everything more fun and memorable! Or maybe it's because I got to spend it with my in-laws AND my family. How often does that happen?! I can't even begin to explain what a blessing it is that my family and Cam's family get along really well. I love it!
The Chubbucks all congregated in Lehi for Thanksgiving - Connor came down from BYU-I and Barb, Curtis, and Lindsey came up from California. We all stayed at Dave & Julies (old) house and partied for the whole weekend. It was so much fun! We also got to celebrate 3 great things: Jacob's birthday, Connor's birthday, and baby Penelope's future arrival. Even though Penelope is not her name, we like to call her that anyways. For some reason it's really fun. And on a side note - she should be coming in like 2 weeks! It's not even my baby and I can hardly wait! Haha
We spent Thanksgiving morning at my parents' house in Holladay where we were able to spend some time with Brody & Alysha. Even though it was short-lived, it was so fun to see them! After our brunch we headed over to Dave & Julies to start the feast. My parents met up with us right before we ate, and it was just a great little party!
So here are some pictures from the events:
The King family - obviously Mazie had to be included!
At Julie's baby shower - we went to Normandie Cafe and all stuffed ourselves full of rolls. Haha
Jacob's 2nd birthday. He had the coolest alligator cake made out of cupcakes!
All the Chubbucks - for now at least!
One thing Cam and I have in common...sometimes we're really blonde. I know Cam has blonde hair...and I used to have blonde hair. But that's not what I'm talking about. I think you know what I mean.
Exhibit 1: Friday, December 2nd, 5:00 pm.
Cam and I were buying my mom a birthday present to give her before we made our way up to Salt Lake for dinner. We bought her flowers at Costco and I wanted to buy her a vase to put them in. So we run over to Tai Pan and pick out a vase and a decoration (obviously...you can't go to Tai Pan without buying a decoration). We're on our way to get in line and I look over at Cam. He was holding the vase...or what used to be a vase. He decided to test the strength of the vase and his man powers were too much for the vase to handle. It completely shattered in his hands! So I look over to see glass shards everywhere, including one that is sticking out of Cam's hands. I didn't know what to do, so I kinda just sat there looking at it for a while. Then I decided to ask for a First Aid kit...but when Cam took the piece of glass out he said he could see his bone. So I proceed to buy the Christmas present while Cam goes to the car. Haha and we made our way to the InstaCare where he had to get 6 stitches on the thumb knuckle of his right hand. Perfect timing, right before Finals! Even though it was kinda a freak accident, and quite painful for Cam, I think it makes for a great story! Haha
Exhibit 2:
Being in the Christmas Spirit, I was wrapping presents trying to get them sent off to the Chubbucks. We had cute wrapping paper but not a lot of ribbon, so I was trying to be creative. We had a few pieces of short ribbon and lots of buttons. So I started gluing the buttons to ribbon and it actually turned out pretty cute. Except for one thing - the ribbon was wrinkled. And if you don't know me very well, you don't know that I'm extremely anal and kind of a perfectionist. Haha so obviously I had to iron the 6 inch piece of ribbon. I wanted to do it really quick. So I just grabbed the iron, plugged it in, and ironed the ribbon. I was too lazy to get the ironing board out, so this is what happened....
An iron mark right on our new rug! Good thing we essentially got it for free. So now that the little piece of ribbon got perfectly ironed, I now have a ruined rug that will last forever. Silly me...
Temple Square
Since being married, my friends and I have a hard time getting together. We all have crazy schedules and live in completely different areas. Even though we're not that far away from each other - it's harder than you think it would be to hang out with each other. So we decided to do a group date down town - dinner at Olive Garden and a walk through Temple Square. After, we also went over to Nicole and Jeff's cute apartment for some yummy dessert. It was so much fun being together again! We need to do it more often.
The whole group together at the famous red tree - Jeff, Nicole, Me, Cam, Adam, Deidre, Michelle and Chito
Cam's artistic side coming out...he was always parting from the group to go take photos. We were all laughing at him the whole time. But he got some great pictures!
The Cruise
For our Christmas present this year, my parents took everyone on a cruise! It was amazing. The 7 day cruise was just what Cam and I needed - the perfect amount of sleep (a lot!), relaxation and adventure. We left on the 17th and arrived home on the 24th, just in time for Christmas. My mom has all the pictures on her camera. So once I get them from her I will blog about it and post more pictures. We had a blast! I think my favorite part was just hanging out with everyone, especially since we don't get to see Brody & Alysha very often. We had so much fun just goofing off together - lots of good memories :)
Christmas Celebrations
Christmas was also very nice - we spent a lot of time with family, the best way to spend holidays. We only wish the Chubbucks could have been here to celebrate with us :( There was a great message during our Sacrament meeting - we went to my parents' ward and they had a musical number put together that incorporated all the Christmas stories, it was absolutely beautiful!
After church we exchanged gifts and ate our Christmas brunch...which was delicious. As if we hadn't eaten enough good food after that week long cruise!
I gave Cam some boring things: running shoes, an automatic tie rack, shirts/sweaters and a wallet (he didn't even want a new wallet, but his old one was just so....old!). And Cam gave me the sweetest present ever. He chose the cutest white watch, one that I could wear during my temple shift. It's amazing how "me" it is....he knows his wife well!
Also, please take note of Cam's beard. He grew it out on the cruise and I made him keep it for Christmas pictures.

Cam with some of his presents...he is too cute.
Me with my new watch! Even though it looks like I'm trying to show off my ring...you can't see the watch very well. But it's perfect. I absolutely love it!
Our 2nd Christmas together!
Although I was really dreading going back to work after the long, relaxing holiday, I discovered that going back to work does have some perks...like free 5th row tickets to the Jazz game, with an all-inclusive buffet and half-time popcorn! Can life get better?! Probably...haha but we thought it was pretty great!
One of our vendors gave us the tickets since the Safety Dept. works with them so much. So me, my boss and 2 other co-workers went with our spouses to the game and it was a blast! The game was pretty close and quite entertaining, our company was great, and our seats were awesome!
Pre-game shot from our seats...and yes we are wearing lanyards. I hate lanyards. Haha
Since I had to go back to work before Cam had to go back to school, we had the chance to do the greatest thing ever...lunch dates! We were able to go on lots of lunch dates, which were just the highlight of my week. I was also borrowing my sister's car (she had foot surgery and so kindly let me borrow it for a week), which means that Cam and I drove our own cars for a while. Who knew meeting up with your hubby for lunch dates could be so fun? Maybe they were so fun because we've never been able to go on them before with Cam's school/work schedule and lack of a 2nd car. Yesterday was probably our last one for a while, but I loved them while they lasted.
I guess that pretty much sums up our recent activities. I have to say that we are extremely blessed. I feel okay bragging about Cam on my blog...since it's not quite as public as Facebook. But I just love him so much. He is a huge blessing in my life. He is one of the most selfless, hard-working, loving and FUN persons I have ever met. I'm sure glad we got married :) Our first year of marriage has been perfect. We've had so much fun together and made some great memories. I guess I never mentioned our 1 year anniversary! We celebrated it while we were on our cruise, which is a pretty great way to celebrate it if you ask me. But anyways - I can't believe it's already been a year! It has flown by, yet it feels as though we have always been married. It just feels right. And I can't remember what life was like without him in it, and frankly, I don't want to remember. Life is perfect with him in it! I am looking forward to many years and an eternity ahead with him.
And that's all for now folks!

Love the update. It was so fun to see you over the break but I still miss you lots! I'm coming in town all next week for a little visit. Let me know if you have any free time and want to get together! Love you!
