I'll try not to make the post too long, but for journaling purposes I'll probably write far more than anyone would care to read. So feel free to skip the boring dialogue and jump to the adorable pictures :)
I guess I'll just start from day 1! Millie decided she wanted to come a little bit earlier than we expected - I was due on the 22nd but scheduled for a C-section on the 14th because Baby Girl was sitting breach in my tummy. We tried to turn her, but she was stubborn (just like her mom) and wouldn't budge. I was loving the fact that I had a set date, because I knew exactly when she was coming and exactly how much time I had left to prepare for her - but I was all wrong! During work I started having consistent contractions, about every 4-5 minutes, but they weren't painful so I just kept plugging along. Thought maybe they were Braxton Hicks. But after about 4 hours of the contractions, I called my Dr's office and they said to go get checked out. So I worked a while longer and drove myself to the hospital...Cam was in school and not answering his phone. Haha after a couple hours of being monitored, they decided that Baby Girl was coming that night! I had a minor panic attack, but Cam helped calm me down and then the excitement set in :) After all, we had been waiting nearly 9 months to meet this sweet little baby!
Although having a C-section was not my ideal way to give birth, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. It was such a special experience, and I am so grateful Cam was able to be there with me throughout the entire process. I thought he would be to grossed out to watch, but he watched the entire surgery! I was so proud of him. He was amazingly calm and loving and exactly how I needed him to be. I feel pretty spoiled to have such an amazing husband. Hearing Amelia's cry for the first time was extremely relieving and something that I will never forget. And although I wasn't able to hold her right away, my heart was filled with so much love for this little girl that Heavenly Father blessed us with.
