The Chubbucks as of Lately

My blogging skills haven't been exercised for so long that I almost forgot we had a blog! I had to look at my last post to see what I even wrote about. Haha needless to say, it's been far too long. And trying to look back and remember on what has happened over the past 3 months is a lot harder than it should be. I'll try to remember certain events and post a little bit on everything :)

Gender Reveal
Back on April 19th, Cam and I had our most exciting Dr.'s appt yet...the gender reveal! Looking forward to that day felt like it would never come, but once it did we were beyond excited to find out more about our little friend that is soon to come!

The gender reveal cupcakes...which platter contains the secret? I think everyone guessed wrong except for my dad. Haha

It's a GIRL!!!
Even though this picture isn't flattering of either of us, we  really are happy and couldn't be more thrilled!
My mom, of course, came prepared with a boy AND girl package...so they brought down their guess and were right! Paul has been very intuitive these days :)
Aside from all of the joking and cupcakes, we are SO excited to bring a beautiful little girl into our family. We would have been happy with a boy or girl, but now that we know it's a girl, it's all becoming so much more real! The best part about finding out was finally being able to think about names and go shopping and actually know what we can look at!! Yay! Bring on all things pink and ruffly :)

California Road Trip
The day we found out about Baby Girl, we immediately started driving to California for a quick weekend trip. We got there at like 1 in the morning or something, but it was totally worth it. We were able to stay and hang out with Cam's family through Monday morning.

We also were able to go visit Jessica and John Johansen, and their most recent addition Little John! I was sooooo excited to finally meet him! He is the most perfect little baby, just beautiful in every way. Couldn't be happier for Jess and John :)

This is the only picture we got of him, sleeping in his little Moses basket :)
Other than the visit to Jess and John's....we don't really remember what we did, BUT we do remember having a lot of fun! Haha the Chubbuck's are always so fun to hang out and relax with, so that's exactly what we did :) We just wished they lived closer so we could hang out all the time. Hopefully that will happen one day!

My Birthday
Being on a Tuesday, my birthday was a little less normal than usual...but obviously still great because birthdays are always great! The people at work took me to lunch, brought me some nice presents and a cake, and let me go home early. How could you ask for a better work day? :)

After work Cam surprised me with the Vera Bradley diaper bag I've been drooling over and some beautiful flowers. He is amazingly thoughtful and adorable - especially when he gets really excited to give you something. Love him! For dinner we went up to Salt Lake and dined at a local Chinese restaurant that my dad found...kind of in the ghetto. But those types of places always have the best food, right?! And since I had been craving Chinese food a lot it totally hit the spot. Afterwards we went back to my parents house for some yummy cake and ice cream, where I proceeded to be spoiled with all sorts of things for the baby. Haha my family spoils me way too much still.

Birthday flowers that Cam specifically picked out to match my dress...haha love him!

Mazie, always in on the action.
One of the many Baby Girl items :)

Memorial Day
Memorial Day this year was super laid back and perfect. We went up to my cabin for a bit and hung out there...Cam took his first little spill on a dirt bike and I laid around the cabin being a lazy preggo woman for most of the time :) It was great!

We also went on a little hike with Zack and Hill. We thought it would be great to go up this trail called Stewart Falls near Sundance. Little did we know that it would be straight up mud for the entire trail. It made for a very fun, adventurous and unpredictable hike!

Finally at the top!
Please ignore the awkward baby bump :)
The falls in all their glory, it was an absolutely gorgeous day!
Cam and Zack proceeded to scale the mountain side, leaving their wives at the bottom just worried. I guess it's good preparation for being a mom and all the crazy things that kids do. Haha
They didn't think very hard about how they were going to get down the mountainside :)
What most of our trail looked like.
California Again!
In the end of June we ended up going to California again! My mom had to drive to LA to pick up Whit from the airport (she had been in China on a study abroad and we missed her very much) so we tagged along for the ride. Why not, right? This time we got to stay for 4 days and it was amazing! We usually don't get to stay for that long. The Chubbuck's created our own little suite for us in their living room, we felt very special :) This California trip consisted mostly of going to the beach and eating lots of good food (Barb always spoils us with good food!)...I made everyone go to the beach like 3 times. Haha I can't help it...growing up in Utah deprives you of such great things like the beach. So whenever we go to California, I love to get a little beach in if it's possible. It was so nice to just relax and not have too much going on. Cam had just started his first break from school in 2 years so he was loving life as well. Since he didn't do Summer term this year, we've actually been able to see each other for more than an hour or 2 every day. It's fantastic! We love being able to run errands and clean and just hang out together...and even though that doesn't sound like a bunch of kicks and giggles, we just have so much fun being together. And since there is only about a month of this freedom left, we're definitely taking advantage of every minute!

We were also able to go to the Newport Beach temple, it was my first time there and it is absolutely beautiful! Our friend Lauren Call was going through to receive her endowment and we were able to tag along for the session. It was a really neat experience to be there with her, she is going to be an amazing missionary! And even though we will miss her tons, the people of Missouri need her more than we do!

Every time we go to California we bring our camera to take lots and lots of pictures with the Chubbuck's...and then the camera ends up staying in the bag, never to be used :( I don't know why we're so terrible at taking pictures, but we really need to get better at it! The only pictures we got this trip were the ones that my mom snagged, so it was a good thing that she came with us.

Relay for Life
This past year, the General Manager at my work passed away from cancer. To honor him, HR set us up as participants in the local Relay for Life. We were able to raise some money for the American Cancer Society and honor those who have suffered and passed away from cancer. I wasn't able to attend the event, but I went early to help set up the booth. The event turned out really nicely, I wish we could have gone!

Even though my life hasn't been directly affected by cancer, I have many close friends and family members who have had to deal with this terrible disease. My mom's good friend John Hawkins and his family came to mind when I was thinking about who I could honor - he passed away a little over a year ago after fighting pancreatic cancer for almost 2 years. Their family is so amazing and charitable, and I look up to them in so many ways. I'm sure their recent loss has been harder than describable, yet they continue to serve others and extend their love to those around them. They are all amazing!

The luminaries lined around the track...I wasn't able to get a picture of them lit up, but I heard it was amazing!

The cupcakes I made for the fundraiser, they were sold in the Pac States booth!

Summer gummies :)

The 4th of July and the Oakley Rodeo
Since the 4th of July was on a Wednesday this year, it made things a little funny with our work schedules and what not...but we made a blast out of it anyways! We went up to Salt Lake and basically just hung out with the family. We bummed around, worked on the crib (mostly watched my dad use his master carpentry skills), painted the changing table, went swimming, and had a little BBQ with the grandparents and Aunt Lynnie. It was great to have a little mini weekend in the middle of the week.

The Friday after the 4th we went to the annual Nilson Oakley Rodeo event! Cam and I both love rodeos, and it's always fun to go with a big group of family. Growing up, it was seriously one of my favorite events of the year. And this year our cousin Hanna was the rodeo queen! It can't get any bigger than that folks! It was so fun to see her riding around the arena wearing her pageantry gear, looking beautiful as ever...but we all missed Uncle Brett terribly. And even though he wasn't with us physically, we all knew that he was up there in heaven cheering her on!

I think Cam would have made a great cowboy! :)

Project Updates
Currently, we have a ton of different projects going on, and they are all so much fun! I love projects! I'm not going to post any pictures of the crib until the final product is completed...all I can say is that it's going to be beautiful, my dad is seriously talented and we can't wait to get it in our nursery! That's been the main project and we haven't even been able to help out very much. We go keep my dad company on the weekends while he works, but we probably get in the way more than anything. Haha

We also bought a used changing table off KSL for $15 which I felt pretty great about! It was boring brown wood before...and now this is what it looks like! We're still trying to figure out baskets and stuff but we're happy about the way it looks now! Turns out that antique staining furniture is A LOT harder than I thought it would be. Haha I lost patience many times doing it, but now that it's done I'm happy that I did it :)

The lighting isn't very good, but here it is!
This past weekend we actually had time to go through and organize some stuff in our nursery and we had so much fun doing it! I just giggled the whole time I was folding her clothes...they're all just so tiny and adorable, I couldn't help it! I can't wait to get her dressed in them when she's actually here - only 10 more weeks!!!

Hopefully I'll be able to update soon on a few more projects that we've been working on, getting ready for Baby Girl to come has been so much fun. The nursery is starting to come together and I've been trying to get the rest of the house organized too (but that's normal, I'm kind of a clean/organized freak). On a side note, Cam is already such an amazing husband, but he is going to be the most amazing and loving dad this world has seen - he keeps saying how his excitement grows more each day. He can't wait to get his baby girl here! His adorable childlike excitement just makes mine grow more as well! This pregnancy has gone by really slow yet really fast at the same time. Either way, this whole 9 month deal has been VERY good practice for our patience :) But knowing that our precious little girl will be here in no time makes it all worth it!
