Monticello

Our next adventure was to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's estate in Charlottesville, VA. We planned this one last minute as well and didn't have very many expectations. We had a blast! We both fell in love with the town - perfectly quaint, yet still has all the modern conveniences you desire. It is also hometown to the University of Virginia (established by Thomas Jefferson).

The first night we drove in we went to dinner on Main Street where there are a ton of outdoor cafes, restaurants, vendors and other fun things. A very fun atmosphere!
Dinner at a fun Italian restaurant (followed by yummy ice cream, my recent obsession)
In the morning we took our time to wake up, work out, eat and mozy on over to Monticello. It's nice to be able to relax and take the time when you can, right? :) We spent most of the day touring the estate. It is on several hundred acres - perfectly groomed and absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, you aren't allowed to take pictures of the interior but it was fun touring the home and learning more about Jefferson's personal life. Neither Cam or I are very big history buffs so we had a lot to learn. Haha the day was very hot and VERY humid, but we still had a good time enjoying all the beauty. I love going to see places like this! And of course, most of the pictures will be of Millie.
So excited for our tour!

This hat kills me.
She loved all the flowers!

Reflection pond
The gardens were so large and beautiful!
Underground tunnels that lead from one end of the house to the other
Hard to get a picture of the home without anyone else in front of it
Millie was a trooper
After the long hot day, all we wanted was to go somewhere with air conditioning and good food. There were a lot of options, but we also wanted to be cheap to....so we ended up at the Waffle House. I was super hesitant at first, but totally satisfied with everything - food, service, prices. It definitely hit the spot. Call us trashy, but we love the Waffle House ;)
Deliciousness, all under $15 including tip!
Millie's first stolen item - sorry Waffle House!

  1. Hey we were just in Charlottesville last weekend! It's just a couple hour drive from us. Too bad we should've met up there!
